August 30th image

August 30, 2012

August 30, 2012. The south basin bloom appears to be further south now, nearer to the mouth of the Red River and the west side of the basin. Although not as obvious, there is some evidence of a surface bloom south of Hecla and Black islands as well. The north basin remains comparatively quiet in terms of bloom formation. There appears to be considerable erosion occurring along the north shore and, with the exception of the central basin near Limestone Point and east of Reindeer Island, the rest of the basin appears quite turbid, especially near-shore.
